A worn nameplate is still quotable if you shoot the right corners
The desk does not need a hero shot of the cabinet. It needs the metal label square-on, the sticker inside the cover, and one frame of the terminals before someone guesses the wrong suffix.
Most line-down RFQs arrive with one phone photo taken from three metres away. The drive is tripping, the label is sun-faded, and maintenance is under pressure to name a substitute before the night shift. That is normal. What slows the answer is not missing data on our side — it is the wrong angle on yours.
Start with the metal nameplate, not the plastic bezel. On a VFD, the useful string is on the side or back plate: frame size, voltage class, and the last dash group that separates a C2000 from a C2000+ with a different I/O board. A photo of the keypad showing “Delta” tells us almost nothing. Hold the phone level, fill the frame with the engraved text, and shoot twice if the first one catches glare from the cabinet light.
Open the door if you can. Firmware stickers live on the inside cover on PowerFlex and some SINAMICS units. A revision label on the control board matters when the OEM swapped a comm card mid-production. We are not being picky — two drives with the same front name can ship with different option slots, and only one of them matches your wire diagram.
For PLC work, send the module label and one wide shot of the rack. Slot order is part of the part number on some families. If the CPU faceplate is clean but the I/O card label is gone, pull the card far enough to read the silkscreen on the PCB edge — gently, with the rack powered down. A blurry serial number from the HMI screen is a last resort, not a substitute for the module brick.
Power modules are worse. On an IGBT or thyristor brick, the type key is laser-etched on the ceramic, not on the carton. Shoot the brick still mounted if removal costs an hour. If paint or oil hides a digit, say which position is unreadable. We would rather confirm “FF200R12…” with one missing character than receive a guess built from motor amperes.
What we do not need: marketing PDFs, a competitor’s listing screenshot, or the phrase “similar to Siemens”. What helps: quantity, ship-to city, and whether the job is running now. Attach the images to the RFQ form or email them in reply — the desk works Mon–Sat 09:00–21:00 HKT. Complete strings usually get a stock or factory-lead answer within one working day; partial photos get a question back, which is still faster than shipping the wrong frame.
If you already searched the catalog and did not find a match, send the photos anyway. Not every photographed SKU is obvious from a shortened shop title. The type key on the plate is the product.
